Kevin Teo, AVPN COO, moderated a panel of social entrepreneurs, foundations and charities at a recent event organised by Salesforce. This included representatives from Temasek Foundation, Marine Parade Family Service Centre, Halogen Foundation and Bettr Barista. The panelists came together to share their experiences of using Salesforce to transform the way they work from manual and labour-intensive data collection to effective and efficient systems. The event was attended by nonprofit leaders from Singapore who were surprised to find out about the many services that are offered by the Salesforce.com Foundation. For instance, Salesforce employees provide pro-bono implementation help to selective nonprofit organisations through 1% of their time (48 hours in a financial year) on a selective basis. The foundation implements a 1/1/1 model, according to which the Salesforce donates 1 percent of salesforce.com equity, 1 percent of its employees’ time and 1 percent of its product to improving communities around the world. The foundation hopes to enable non-profits to utilise Salesforce technology, through the “Power of Us” donated licences programme, which provides nonprofit organisations and higher education institutions access to salesforce.com products and resources. The programme provides 10 donated Enterprise Edition licenses to the software; deep discounts on additional licenses, products and/ or other services from salesforce.com; discounts on training and events; and access to nonprofit and higher education specific user groups, events and webinars among others. Successful non-profit organisations on Salesforce have managed to achieve time and cost savings – and as a result, have had more time to focus on their work with their respective communities, according to Esther Nai, Community Engagement Coordinator at the Singapore office. In Singapore, the foundation has provided S$22,000 to Food from the Heart as part of the Healthy Communities Grant Program, sponsoring monthly food goodie bags to students at a local secondary school.Globally, the foundation has assisted about 19,000 nonprofit organisations.
