Young Social Entrepreneurs 2016 – Dialogue & Ideas Crowdsourcing

Event 1 – “Cross-Sector Collaboration in Social Entrepreneurship: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities”

The social enterprise sector is rapidly gaining momentum.  In order to generate large-scale social impact, there is a crucial need to evolve from social mission to system change. To achieve this, social entrepreneurs cannot work alone; cross-sector collaboration is necessary. How can various stakeholders work together to achieve their own objectives without losing sight of the social mission? How can social enterprises work with corporates beyond CSR? What are some of the best practices of cross-sector collaboration?

This dialogue examines the different relationships between the various stakeholders within the social entrepreneurship landscape, and discusses the current trends, challenges and opportunities from their perspectives. Panellists include Mr Vishnu Swaminathan, India Country Director of Ashoka, Mr Jonathan Chang, Director of Lien Centre for Social Innovation, Mr Alfie Othman, Executive Director of the Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise and Ms Yap Mun Ching, Executive Director, AirAsia Foundation. The session will be moderated by YSE 2010 Keith Tan.

When: Thursday 17 Mar, 9am to 11am (registration begins at 8.30am)
Where: Treetop, Level 5, *SCAPE @ 2 Orchard Link, 237978 (near Somerset MRT Station)

Event 2 – Ideas Crowdsourcing with YSE Alumni

What are some of the problems facing a young social enterprise? How can we contribute our ideas and expertise to help them? We invite you – SE practitioners, investors, community leaders or anyone interested in learning more about their work – to join our practitioners in an insightful discussion to crowdsource ideas and solutions for problems their social enterprises are facing.

YSE 2010 Soule invites corporate representatives and practitioners to discuss the difference corporates can make through responsible social giving, and how Soule Consultancy can work with you to maximise that.

YSE 2014 SDI Academy is having difficulty transiting into a B2B business model. Is that the best business model for them? How do they convince potential partners, clients and investors of the value in their work?

Following this, we will announce the shortlisted teams who will join us for the rest of the eight-month YSE 2016 journey, which will include mentorship by leading business consultants and entrepreneurs, an overseas study visit and a pitch session for funding.

When: Saturday 19 Mar, 5pm to 7pm (registration begins at 4.30pm)
Where: Level 4, Raffles City Convention Centre (above City Hall MRT Station)

We look forward to your presence at our events and your support for the young social entrepreneurs.
