AVPN’s third annual conference held over 4 days from 20th to 23rd April in Singapore broke new records, bringing together unprecedented number of funders, social investors, philanthropy practitioners to share learnings, failings, best practices and to connect for more social impact in Asia.
Also bigger than before was the Investment Showcase, which was very popular with the network members last year. This year, 20 organisations supported by our members presented to the delegation, and many more had to be turned away because of the limited capacity. The pitching organisations received enthusiastic responses, from direct grants to partner support and other helpful connections.
A big focus this year was our Knowledge Centre’s Capability Development Model, which presents venture philanthropy’s 5 key practice areas:
- Pre-Engagement Processes
- Capacity Building for social purpose organisations
- Impact Assessment
- Portfolio Management
- Multi-Sector Collaboration
Many delegates visited the Knowledge Showcase to learn more, conduct a survey on their organisations’ ranking in these areas, and were excited to learn more about AVPN’s future programmes that would help benchmark and level up the industry.
The highlight of the conference will always be the people – this year, delegates got to learn more about what the other delegates are involved in, and to contact them directly via our AVPN Connector. The improved version of the Connector is now available also on our website and members and conference delegates can continue the conversation even after the conference. A feature that is new this year is our Dialogue platform – everyone can access the conference session reports and offer your insights, comments and feedback on the topics.
