AVPN Associates

Amanda Kee

Amanda is a 4th year English Literature undergraduate in the National University of Singapore and University Scholars' Program. She is also a researcher under the Chua Thian Poh Community Leadership Program and has published a report on the Assets-Based Community Development framework.

Prior to working with AVPN, she had also completed a publishing internship with Epigram Books. Amanda is also a strong advocate for literature, particularly, children's literature, and has published a children's book on the late President of Singapore, The Runaway Who Became President.


Syarif Hamdi

Syarif is a Research Associate at AVPN as well as a Project Officer at Social Ventures Australia. He has been engaging in the social sector in Australia and Indonesia, and has decided to join AVPN for a research project in order to expand his knowledge of Singapore and the larger South East Asian region. Prior to that, Syarif volunteered for education initiatives in the Jakarta area with Yayasan Pemimpin Anak Bangsa where he taught Sociology. He is particularly interested in developing and sharing knowledge among disenfranchised communities in order to create large-scale ripple effect of sustainability and welfare.

Syarif is a data enthusiast by nature and is dreaming for an index of social enterprises and initiatives in Indonesia in order to assist both foreign and local investors and donors. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies from the University of Wollongong.

Aatishya Mohanty

Aatishya is a Research Associate at AVPN. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Applied Economics at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Her research interests lie in international development, public policy and health economics.

Prior to joining AVPN, Aatishya has interned at the transfer pricing division at Deloitte India and as a communication intern at Magic Bus India Foundation in New Delhi. She is passionate about advancing inclusive and sustainable growth in emerging economies through the impact investment sector.


Audrey Touboulic

Audrey is a Membership Services Associate at AVPN. She completed her Master’s degree in Anthropology with honours from the School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences of Paris and is currently pursuing an Executive Education Certificate in Non-Profit Management from SIM University of Singapore. Her Master thesis on cultural policy related to the Intangible Cultural Heritage brought her to undertake few fieldworks at UNESCO headquarters in Paris and in Vietnam. Prior to AVPN, Audrey was an Associate of the Cultural and Linguistic Attaché at the Embassy of France in Singapore where she co-authored an article on Cultural Rights. She was also involved in activities at Singapore Committee for UN Women.

She is passionate about Human Rights, Social entrepreneurship and she aspires to work in Philanthropy and Impact Investing to embrace new sustainable business models.


Christina Valentine

Christina Kemper Valentine is a Junior Associate at AVPN. Prior to joining the team, she was an Innovation Fellow at the Institute for Education headquartered in Washington, D.C. Her fellowship focused on designing and promoting a University of Southern California Free Summer Coding Camp initiative, which aims to increase STEM exposure through computer programming regardless of gender, ethnicity, or family income. Christina graduated at the top of her class from the University of Southern California in 2015 with a BA in International Relations and Religion. She also spent time studying abroad at the University of St Andrews and the University of Cape Town, where she pursued her varied interests in business, social and community development.


Debbie Fang

Debbie is the volunteer Events Associate at AVPN. A non-profit professional with a background in classroom teaching, education research and non-profit management and administration, Debbie is soon to embark on a journey of co-founding a Foundation in Singapore - one that is focused on catering to empowering disadvantaged children through the promotion of their holistic development (including education).

Prior to her current experience with AVPN, Debbie played a key role in the sound operation of the Secretariat of ARNEC, a regional non-profit network focused on raising the profile of Early Childhood Development (ECD) issues across 47 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. To date, Debbie’s academic career encompasses a BA in International Studies at Monash University (Australia) – with a semester abroad at Korea University (South Korea); an MTeach (Early Childhood) at the University of Melbourne (Australia); an MSc. (International and Comparative Education) at Stockholms Universitet (Sweden) and an Executive Education certificate in Non-Profit Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (Singapore).


Heesoo Yoon

Heesoo is an intern at AVPN. She is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Global Creative Industries at the University of Hong Kong. Prior to AVPN, Heesoo worked for Associated Press Television News as a video news intern. In 2011, she worked as a volunteer at Hope Institute in South Korea. Her research on Nepalese youth and education at Korea Youth Overseas Research Competition organized by Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Korea was awarded by the Minister. Heesoo is passionate about education, public health and gender equality.


Jeslyn Soh

Jeslyn is an intern at AVPN. She has recently completed her first year at the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she is pursuing her BSc International Relations. Before joining AVPN, she has worked as an Accounting and Investor Relations Assistant at Arisaig Partners (Asia). She also volunteers with Very Special Arts (Singapore), a charity that rehabilitates people with special needs through the arts. Jeslyn is particularly fervent about solving social issues through female empowerment.


Merita Salihu

Merita Salihu is a Master's student at The Fletcher School, Tufts University in the United States. At Fletcher, Merita is pursuing her studies in International Business Relations and International Business and Economic Law. She is interested in investment.

Originally from Kosovo, Merita has previously spent time in Italy at the United World College of Adriatic, and at Mount Holyoke College in the United States where she pursued a dual Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Romance Languages and Literature. In the past, Merita has worked with UNICEF, the Government of Kosovo and the German Marshall Fund of the United States, in Brussels.


Naba Husain

Naba Husain is an intern at AVPN. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Economics at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Prior to AVPN, Naba worked at the Center for Global and International Studies at the University of Kansas and volunteered for 8 years at Rainbows United, a non-profit organization that strives to better the lives of children with special needs and their families by providing personalized services and pooling community resources together. She is particularly passionate about poverty alleviation, safe water supply, and human rights efforts.


Ng Huiyi

Ng Hui Yi is a Junior Associate at AVPN and a recent Sociology Honours graduate from the National University of Singapore. She also spent time studying abroad in Kings College London and the University of Manchester, where she pursued her studies in International Politics, Feminist Studies and Social Anthropology. Prior to AVPN, Hui Yi volunteered in the Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics, HOME and worked as an intern in a law firm in Singapore. Hui Yi is passionate about community development, migration issues and policy planning.


Nikki Kwan

Nikki Kwan is an intern at AVPN. She is currently pursuing an Honors Business Administration degree at the University of Western Ontario's Ivey Business School. Nikki has previously worked with UNICEF Hong Kong, Peruvian-based non-profit Nexos Comunitarios, and interned at a global supply-chain management company in Hong Kong. A strong believer in the importance of cultural exchange and nurturing social conscience, she works as a Transitions Program Assistant at the Western International and Exchange Student Center. Her career goals include intersecting her interests in business, global development and positive psychology to further education equity and intercultural understanding with the purpose of dismantling systemic socioeconomic inequality through the impact investment sector.


Runyu Shu

Runyu is an intern at AVPN. She comes from China and she is currently studying Politics and Public Administration at The University of Hong Kong. She is interested in cross-culture communication and she wants to experience different countries' culture. Runyu is passionate about social development and impact investing. She used to do an intern in Sowers Action, an NGO in Hong Kong and now she wants to explore something new about philanthropy.


Saheed Oyefeso

Saheed is a Research Associate at AVPN. He is a Law and Business graduate from Dublin and has just completed a Masters degree in Insurance and Risk Management at Cass Business School in London.

He was born in Nigeria and raised in Ireland. Saheed is globally minded and passionate about poverty alleviation, financial inclusion and giving social entrepreneurs the opportunity to create change and have an impact to create a better world and society.


Yana Ahlden

Yana is a Partnerships and Marketing Associate at AVPN. She just completed her LLM in Law and Economics at the Erasmus Mundus Programme European Master in Law and Economics. For this, she spent three months each at the University of Hamburg, the Erasmus University of Rotterdam, and the University of Haifa. Prior to her Masters she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts from Amsterdam University College in the Netherlands, for which she spent a semester at the National University in Singapore.

Raised in Germany, the United States, Argentina and Brazil while holding dual citizenship, Yana in internationally oriented and passionate about bringing parties around the world together to solve and discuss the larger problems that face our world today. She was involved for many years in Model United Nations and part of the inaugural team of TEDxAUCollege.
