About the course

The AI Literacy for All programme aims to build foundational Artificial Intelligence (AI) literacy and practical skills among key learner groups in Sri Lanka. The initiative adapts the Google AI Essentials curriculum on Coursera under LEARN’s “AI for All” framework. Designed to promote employability, digital readiness, and confidence in using AI tools, the programme equips learners to apply AI across education, research, and professional contexts. Though conducted primarily online for wider reach, LEARN is enhancing accessibility through the translation of content into Sinhala and Tamil and integration with a new Learning Management System (LMS). By fostering AI awareness and capacity across multiple education sectors, the initiative lays a strong foundation for a digitally skilled and future-ready Sri Lankan workforce.

Module Structure

  • Introduction to AI

    The module is the course’s introduction point, providing a foundational understanding of AI concepts, its different types, and its potential impact for participants to grasp the fundamentals necessary for all subsequent learning and application

  • Maximize Productivity with AI Tools

    The module focuses on the application of AI, teaching participants the mechanism and usage of practical AI tools. The goal is to maximize efficiency, enabling users to perform tasks in their daily work and creative activities more quickly and effectively.

  • Discover the Art of Prompt Engineering

    The module is dedicated to the practical skill of creating precise and powerful prompts. Participants will learn how to communicate optimally with key AI tools to ensure they get the desired, high-quality results for any task.

  • Use AI Responsibly

    The Use AI Responsibly module guides participants to understand the ethics and limitations involved in using AI technology. This ensures that users do not just apply AI randomly, but do so thoughtfully, responsibly, and wisely, maintaining professional and social standards.

  • Stay Ahead of the Curve

    The module provides participants with the necessary tips, mindset, and strategies. The goal of this module is to ensure they are fully prepared to compete and excel in a world that is increasingly driven and shaped by Artificial Intelligence.
