About the course

Plan International Australia’s AI training aims to equip NGO workers with essential knowledge on artificial intelligence. Learners will be able to understand what AI is and isn’t, risks and opportunities in the context of humanitarian and development work, and useful tools to maximize productivity given the unique challenges NGOs face.

Module Structure

  • Introduction to AI and Learning the Essentials

    Understand where AI sits across spheres of work in the development sector and gain an overview of AI.

  • Maximising Productivity, Prompt Engineering, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation

    Understand the basics of generative AI and RAG, potential applications in different sectors and workplaces, and prompt engineering principles and categories.

  • Risks and Responsible AI

    Recognise the risks and limitations of AI, particularly privacy concerns, shadow AI, and hallucinations, and why human having a human in the loop is always necessary.

  • Staying Ahead of the Curve

    Learn ways and get additional resources to stay ahead with developments surrounding AI and how these might impact diffierent lives and areas of work.
