Asia-Pacific Regional Report: Financing for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECE)

This regional study, a collaborative effort between the UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok) and the UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA), focuses on the financing of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), with emphasis on children aged three to five years-old. The study was conducted in ten countries selected from the Asia-Pacific region and its objectives were: (i) to analyze the current status of ECCE financing in the selected countries, as well as highlight some of the innovative ECCE financing mechanisms in the region; and (ii) to provide policy makers in the Asia–Pacific region with recommendations and policy options for increasing ECCE funding, and to improve its effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability.
