BACKGROUND AND DETAILS
BEKRAF was formed as a non-ministry institution in January 20 2015 through the Republic of Indonesia Presidential Regulation Number 6 of 2015. This body overlooks the development of the creative economy and has the duty to assist the president in formulating, establishing, coordinating and synchronized policies in the creative economy.
The six major missions of BEKRAF are:
- Uniting all of Indonesia’s creative assets and potential to achieve an independent creative economy.
- Creating a conducive climate for the development of creative industries.
- Encourage innovation in creative fields that have added value and competitiveness in the international world.
- Open public insight and appreciation for all aspects related to the creative economy.
- Building awareness and appreciation of intellectual property rights, including legal protection against copyright.
- Design and implement specific strategies to place Indonesia on the map of the world’s creative economy.
