Francis is the Director of Asia Initiatives for The Hong Kong Jockey Club University of Chicago Academic Complex | The University of Chicago Francis and Rose Yuen Campus in Hong Kong. Francis is a veteran creator of strategies and projects that synergize commercial and social impact. He plays a key part in developing and driving strategic initiatives for the Campus, such as the 100 Year Lives in Asia Conversation Series that was launched in April 2020, to bring together experts in Asia and the U.S. to discuss phenomenon and opportunities for an aging population in Asia. Francis also heads up the University?s effort in providing programming and scholarships for the social sector in Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Jockey Club Programme on Social Innovation. Francis began his career in the Hong Kong Government and the nonprofit sector, before spending six years as a Trust Relationship Manager at the HSBC Private Bank, where he managed over 40 foundations and charitable trusts, gave advice on philanthropy and grant-making strategies, and handled all aspects of foundation and trust management including structuring, finance and compliance. Before joining the University of Chicago, he was a Charities Manager at the Hong Kong Jockey Club, responsible for planning and evaluating education and youth projects. Francis graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong as a Philosophy major. He also has Bachelor of Laws and Master of Science in Social and Cultural Theory degrees. Francis is involved in a number of nonprofit and education organizations. He is a Council Member of St. Paul?s College, his alma mater. He is also Board Chairman of SingFest, a nonprofit that stages choral performances and organizes choral-related education programmes. He is Honorary Treasurer of YCWH Trust, a foundation that funds education initiatives.
