About

Abhijit is a Managing Director and Head of Tax, Southeast Asia with Alvarez & Marsal in Singapore. He brings 35 years of experience in business planning, corporate governance and international tax structuring. Prior to joining A&M, Abhijit spent 28 years with PWC Singapore where most recently he was the Tax Market Leader and a senior Tax Partner. His primary focus is advising and assisting various MNCs, large corporates, SMEs, family offices and global not-for profit organizations as they expand their operations in APAC using Singapore as a hub. He served clients across various industries, including Pharma/Medtech, Hightech, Telcos, FMCG, Industrial Products, PE houses, amongst others, and played a key role in assisting various American, European and Asian corporate houses and NGOs in setting up their international headquarter in Asia. Abhijit maintains close working relationships with Economic Development Agencies in various SEA countries and helps clients in their discussion/negotiation for relevant government support. Abhijit is a regular speaker on business and tax issues at media and other public forums and contributes to thought leadership articles for various journals and newspapers from time to time. Abhijit earned a first-class Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from St Xaviers’ College, India. Abhijit is a Chartered Accountant and an Accredited Tax Advisor (Income Tax) of Singapore Institute of Accredited Tax Professionals. He completed an executive MBA course on E-commerce from Darden Business School, University of Virginia, USA. Currently Abhijit is a Board and senior audit committee member of World Wildlife Fund (“WWF”), Singapore and Vice Chairman of the Board for the Teaching and Testing of South Asian Languages (operating under aegis of Ministry of Education). Earlier (from 2017 to 2019), he was on the Board of Maxwell Chambers Pte Ltd (a subsidiary of Ministry of Law) which was responsible for promoting Singapore as an international arbitration center. During 2013 to 2019, Abhijit also served as a Board member and Audit Committee Chairman of Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (“IPOS”).
