As Chairperson of Social Venture Partners (SVP) in Bangalore, Akila is helping build a network of engaged philanthropists to address complex social issues in India.

Recently, Akila stepped aside from a 30-year career in technology to focus on incubating venture philanthropy in India.

Prior to SVP, Akila was President – Global Technology and Country Head for SunGard – a Fortune 500 company and global leader in financial services software.

While at SunGard, she built and led SunGard’s global R&D and operations footprint, including establishing and growing centers in India, China and Tunisia from 800 to 4000 employees. She started her career at Wipro, followed by professional services and product development roles in ICL (UK), before starting up a global consulting firm’s operation in India. She led the team through three M&A transactions until the business was acquired by SunGard in 2005.

She has held several key industry positions and also won several awards and accolades including being among the top 5 women leaders in the Indian technology industry for many years and is also listed amongst the “50 Most Powerful Business Women in India”.

Akila is an alumnus of the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani.
