Cristina Umani completed her studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich with a degree in sociology. During her studies, she gained practical experience in both the private and the voluntary sector: among other things, she worked in communications research department of Siemens AG in the project department of CARE Germany-Luxembourg EV and volunteer for the Peruvian NGO MINKA Perú, which focuses on the economic and social development of small and micro-enterprises dedicated.

After she graduated in 2009, she joined as an intern at the BMW Foundation. After that, she worked for BMW Financial Services in Munich and Guyancourt (France) as an expert on money laundering and fraud prevention in the European market. Until February 2015 Cristina Umani took the BMW Foundation in Brussels in the office of the EVPA, a partner organization of the Foundation.
