Fokko is Vice President Nutrition in Emerging Markets, developing DSM’s fortified food business in the Business to Consumer market in emerging markets, focusing on bringing affordable, accessible and aspirational nutritious foods to people in developing countries. He is also scoping and setting up the World Business Council for Sustainable Development – EAT initiative on Food Solutions, as it was announced in Stockholm. The aim is to define scalable business solutions that will be needed to repair the broken food systems, improving the ecological food footprint as well as the health impact of food.

He holds a variety of external board positions in the field of sustainability.

Before Fokko was Vice President Sustainability and Public Private Partnerships. He has developed Sustainability in DSM from corporate responsibility to be a strategic business-driver. Sustainability is now a core part of the DSM strategy, as one of the four strategic growth drivers for the company. He also increased the awareness around the strategic importance of transformative Public Private Partnerships, bringing together complementary competencies of the public and private sector to deal with large societal challenges. He established PPPs with UN WFP and UNICEF.

After joining DSM in 1988 he has held positions in HRM, Logistics, Marketing & Sales, Change Management and General Management. As Regional Director South America, he started DSM Engineering Plastics activities in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was General Manager DSM Anti-Infectives in Cairo, Egypt, where he was assigned to make a turn-around in the business. He then returned to Europe to operate in Schaffhausen, Switzerland as HR director for DSM Composite Resins. Fokko has a degree in Psychology and executive education at INSEAD.
