Kaitlin leads an online platform to accelerate growth for social entrepreneurs in Indonesia, PLUS. PLUS is an online gathering place for social entrepreneurs, investors, experts and others working to create a positive impact in Indonesia, while also educating entrepreneurs on what they need to know to grow their business. She consulted for the World Bank on support for small and medium enterprises, and has spent a lot of time with entrepreneurs learning about what they need to succeed in Indonesia. Kaitlin came to Indonesia to develop an integrated education program for United in Diversity to promote sustainable development and the creative economy in Indonesia. The program was designed to bridge the gap between university and industry and provide meaningful education for students eager to enter the creative economy – including music, mobile apps, games, and animation. Kaitlin completed her Ph.D. at Stanford University in 2012, examining the relationship between governance, agricultural commodities, climate change and conflict. Her previous experience in Indonesia, Afghanistan, Liberia and Haiti offered her opportunities to design participatory programs that met local needs and capitalized on potential opportunities. In Afghanistan she worked on developing, implementing and evaluating programs, focusing on vocational training for women, on a large alternative livelihoods project.
