Laura joined Essilor at the end of 2018 as the first leader of global strategy and advocacy for the company’s initiatives serving the consumers living at the base of the economic pyramid. She reports to the Chief Mission Officer, and provides strategic support to guide the inclusive business, philanthropy and advocacy activities around the world. In addition, she oversees stakeholder engagement and key partnerships for the BOP work. She also holds several board and committee appointments related to Essilor’s philanthropic foundations. Laura joined Essilor from FSG, where she was a Managing Director leading the Global Health and Gender Equity practices. She was part of the founding team at FSG in 2002, and has had a 20 year career in strategy consulting. Laura contributed to the research and writing of key Shared Value articles at FSG, including Competing by Saving Lives, which examined opportunities to apply the shared value concepts to various global health initiatives, and Private Industry for Public Health, which explored shared value in the context of maternal and child health. Laura started her career at Deloitte Consulting, focused on large scale organizational change initiatives. She is a recognized leader in the social sector, speaking regularly at various global conferences. Laura holds a number of additional Board and Advisor positions in the field with VillageReach, a non-profit focused on improving “last mile” drug distribution in the global south, the CAMTech Innovation Platform at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Global Health, and US Pharmacopoeia. She was honored to be named one of the “50 Most Influential Social Innovators” and one of the “Women Super Achievers” by the World Sustainability Congress in 2018 and 2019. She holds an MBA with a certificate in Public Management from Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Laura also holds a MA in International Policy from Stanford University and a BBA in International Business from the University of Michigan.
