About

Mr. Martin Hart-Hansen was appointed as Deputy Resident Representative of the UNDP Thailand country office in April 2015. Martin has more than 15 years experience working in multilateral development co-operations in least developed, post-disaster and post-conflict countries on national capacity building, crisis response, governance, institutional development, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. Prior to his current posting, Martin worked as a Policy Specialist in the UNDP Executive Office in New York, where he served for almost four years under UNDP Administrator, Ms. Helen Clark. In this role, he covered the Asia-Pacific region on the crisis prevention and recovery portfolio. He also worked closely with twelve donor countries, the Office of the UN Secretary-General, the UN Departments of Political Affairs and Peacekeeping Operations. Before joining the Executive Office, Martin served as Special Assistant to the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Nepal from 2008-2011. Prior to working with UNDP, Martin worked as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for UNICEF in Bhutan (2000-2003), for UNICEF in India on the Polio Eradication Campaign (2003-2005) and on post-tsunami response for UNICEF in Maldives (2005-2006). From 2006-2008, Martin worked for TDC, the largest telecommunications company in Denmark. Martin holds a BA and MA in Economics from the University of Copenhagen in Denmark.
