Prior to joining the non-profit sector, Maureen spent over a decade at Grant Thornton UK LLP as a corporate finance adviser and regulator to senior management of companies operating in diverse industries and jurisdictions. She project managed and led complex public listing/IPO transactions and was a qualified executive (nominated adviser) with the London Stock Exchange plc. From 1997 - 2005, Maureen was a corporate lawyer at large international law firms in London and Toronto. She received an LL.B and BA (Economics and Japanese Studies) from the University of Toronto. 

Maureen is passionate about literacy, women and children's issues, and is involved in The Women's Foundation of Hong Kong's mentoring programme as well as an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (Hong Kong). She speaks Bahasa Malaysia, Japanese, Cantonese and rudimentary Mandarin.
