Maya Shahani is the Chairperson of the Shahani Group which promotes quality education, social empowerment and inclusion. Her Business School, the Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management, recently surpassed several top institutes to be ranked No 3 on a list of Indian Colleges offering global business courses. TSCFM has also won the DNA and CII awards for the best business school for industry academia linkages.
Her media school, the Thadomal Shahani Centre for Media and Communications, uses a practical industry oriented model of education to create employable leaders in the media industry.
Ms Shahani is the Trustee of the Thadomal Shahani Trust, founded in 1958 by her late father-in-law and is also the Trustee of the HSNC Board which educates around 50 thousand students every year. The Thadhomal Shahani Engineering College named after the Shahani family is a premier institute of the HSNC Board. The HSNC Board is the parent body of the HSNC University.
As the Vice Chairperson of Global Dialogue Foundation Ms Shahani works under the aegis of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations to bring in a Unity in Diversity through embracing all cultures. She inaugurated the first Peace Garden in India under UNAOC and GDF and through her efforts the India Chapter operating from TSCFM has been recognized as the Global Headquarters of United Civilizations.
As the Chairperson of the SAGE Foundation, the CSR arm of the Shahani Group she educates and empowers the under resourced and works with the Clinton Global Initiative. The focus is on skilling the unemployed youth to enable them to get gainful employment for which generous grants are coming in from well known organizations.
SAGE Foundation is a close affiliate of Buy1Give1 a global organization which connects corporates with NGO’s and has donated thousands of dollars to the needy.
Ms. Shahani works with Mike Handcock’s Company Rock Your Life on their vision of building conscious leaders throughout the world. She was selected for the first cover of their conscious leadership magazine “LEAD”
As the Vice Chairperson of the Bombay Mothers and Children Welfare Society.
Ms. Shahani helped to redevelop a tribal school with the active involvement of Inspiring Lives Global which has become a role model for other rural schools. She also helped to set up a diagnostic center named after her late brother in law which takes care of the health needs of the under resourced.
She is on the education board of Priyadarshni Academy and Sadhu Vaswani Mission.
As a Patron of the Cancer Patients Aid Association Ms Shahani helped to set up the Lila Shahani Centre for the Early Detection of Cancer in the loving memory of her mother- in- law.
Ms Shahani is the Patron and Founder Trustee of Womens Movement started by Times Foundation which works towards the empowerment of women through providing them education, life skills and health care.
Global warming is a serious concern. SAGE Foundation is the Indian partner of PATT Foundation, a UK based charity and has planted thousands of trees across the country.
Maya is a Dreamcatcher. “Dreamcatchers” a full length feature film by Mike Handcock with an International cast and crew, showcases Maya as an ordinary person achieving extraordinary results.
A recipient of several awards such as the Glory of India (Gold Medalist) Award, Global Peace Award, the Jewel of India Award, the Jamnalal Bajaj Award for Fair Business Practices, the Women Achievers Award, Bharat Jyoti Puraskar, the Entrepreneur Business School Award and the Clinton Global Initiative Certificate, Maya is as comfortable meeting global leaders as she is working in villages and slums. With “Ethical Excellence” as her credo, she fulfills her duties with compassion, love and commitment.
