Shri. Mahendra Kumar Rekhi assumed charge of SBI Foundation as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer on 10th April 2017.

A Post Graduate in Commerce, Shri Rekhi joined the Bank as Probationary Officer in the year 1984. Presently he is spearheading SBI Foundation, a CSR arm of SBI.

Prior to his present assignment, he worked as General Manager (Social Media) & General Manager (Corporate Communication & Change Management). During his stint as General Manager (Social Media & Marketing) Bank’s social media presence got due fillip in as much as it is now the No. 1 Brand in the world among Banks using social media as per the Financial Brand’s Power 100 Ranks – Banks Q 1 2017. The follower base of it’s Facebook account crossed 1 crore a number which is highest in the world among Banks. Bank’s YouTube Channel also witnessed unprecedented growth in viewership with the result that it is now at No. 1 position worldwide among Banks. The Twitter handle of the Bank which is No.2 in the world among Banks, during this period was continuously among the top 5 brands for 8 weeks as per Twitter Advertising Index and was the top brand in 3 weeks. It is the No. 1 banking brand in India. As far as presence on LinkedIn and Pinterest is concerned, the real barometer of acceptability on social media platforms is engagement. In that space also during this period, SBI LinkedIn account became the No.1 brand among Banks leaving behind even deeply entrenched private sector players.

As DGM (PR), Shri Rekhi was adjudged as one of the top 5 CMOs of the country for two consecutive years, 2013 and 2014 by IAA (International Advertising Association). As a career Banker, he gained experience in various facets of Banking like Large Corporate Credits, Retail Operations, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, SME Advances etc.

CSR is very close to his heart and he always strives for the welfare of the less fortunate & under privileged in unreached areas of the Country. His interests include reading & Yoga.
