Madhi Foundation was founded by Merlia Shaukath with the mission of creating meaningful and sustainable solutions to some of the most chronic problems in the education sector in India. It is her conviction that every child deserves an excellent education and that an excellent education must equip children with the ability to think, question and create – create solutions, create ideas, create their own life paths.
Merlia comes with a deep understanding of the education sector in India having worked with organisations such as Teach For India, where she led the
government relations vertical in Chennai and subsequently with Athena
Infonomics as a Senior Public Policy Consultant (Education and Skill
Development) where she led projects commissioned by the Government of Tamil Nadu, Government of Andhra Pradesh and international non-governmental organisations such as the Aga Khan Foundation and Save the Children.
Merlia is an alumna of Stella Maris College (Chennai, India), London School of Economics and Political Science (London, UK), and the University of Oxford (Oxford, UK)
