Robert Rosen serves as a Senior Advisor to AVPN. Robert is a recognised thought leader in global philanthropy and has a record of building and strengthening organisations, operationalising strategic plans, developing talent, and serving as a trusted advisor at every level. He has over 30 years of experience in leadership positions across the government, corporate, and philanthropic sectors. From 2007 to 2024, Robert held senior leadership roles at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2014, he launched and led the Gates Foundation’s Philanthropic Partnerships programme to inspire and activate informed and intentional generosity by givers at all levels. From 2009 to 2014, Robert was the Head of the Executive Office at the Gates Foundation, where he led the team responsible for strategy and planning for Co-chairs Bill & Melinda Gates, Bill Gates Sr., and the Foundation’s CEO, Jeff Raikes. Earlier in his tenure at the Gates Foundation, Robert served as Director of Communications and Interim Chief Communications Officer. Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, Robert held the position of Senior Director of the Finance Division at the Corporate Executive Board (now Gartner). He advised CFOs and other senior finance leaders of the world’s leading corporations on best practices and operational efficiencies. Earlier in his career, Robert served in senior leadership roles in federal government and electoral campaigns. From 2003 to 2005, he served as Political Director for Senator Edward (Ted) Kennedy. Prior to that, Robert also served in the Administration of President Bill Clinton as Assistant to the President and Director of Advance. He oversaw the planning and execution of public and private engagements for the President and First Lady across the United States and the world. Robert holds a J.D. from Cornell Law School and B.A. from the University of Vermont.
