Simon is the Chief Impact Investment Officer and a co-founder of Akaria Natural Capital that is an impact first fund manager investing in scale in Natural Climate Solutions.  Akaria’s first fund aims to invest in more than ten high quality NCS Projects across South East Asia.

Before joining Akaria in August 2022, Simon helped establish and grow a family office private equity investment platform between 2011 and 2022.  He was a founder member of the investment committee.  He moved to a full-time investment and operations role in Nov 2013.  Since 2018 he has advised the family’s Marshall Foundation on expanding its impact investing.  In 2020 he helped launch Kibo Invest in Singapore and worked with Berge Bulk, the family’s global shipping business, to set up its carbon credit offset portfolio as part of an ambitious carbon neutral strategy.  Simon and the Kibo Invest team have invested in carbon credits, climate positive funds and green technology businesses.

Before the family office, Simon was the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (“AVPN”) based in Singapore from Sep 2011 to Nov 2013 and led its successful start-up and rapid growth.  He served as a director of AVPN until Feb 2017.  He continues to be associated with AVPN through Akaria’s membership.

Simon has an MBA from IMD, an MA from SOAS (University of London) and an MA from Oxford University (following his BA Hons in Mathematics).  Simon is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a member of the CFA Society of Singapore and a member of Social Value International.  He has lived in Singapore since 2011.
