Stefan has a wide background in sustainable business development in many industries. He has worked with multinational companies (Deutsche Bank, E.ON, Bayer) at the interface of investor relations and corporate strategy to embed a sustainability perspective into core business processes.

More recently, as “intrapreneur”, Stefan has been promoting inclusive business development across lower-income markets which represent up to 60% of world’s population. He has initiated and managed strategic programs to tackle development challenges in collaboration with business, entrepreneurs, impact investors, civil societies, and governmental organizations.

Stefan is a strong believer in the power of business to accelerate sustainable transformation.  At Covestro, he is heading an internal "start up" around Inclusive Business development for 7 countries of ASEAN. 

Stefan and his dedicated team constantly work on improving productivity and increasing income for smallholder farmers by proper post-harvest management solution. One promising approach is a solar dryer dome which allows smallholder farmers to dry harvested products, to fight food spoilage and to ensure hygienic drying. In applying high value materials of Covestro Stefan is also looking into affordable housing, sanitation, cold storage and water solution for people in underserved markets to enhance livelihood in a sustainable model.
