Tai Sook Yee is responsible for IMC Industrial Group’s strategic businesses which spans globally with major presence in China, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. Its business segments include the dry bulk supply chain, wet bulk supply chain, marine & offshore engineering and maritime & logistic services. The Group provides customised, innovative, reliable and cost-efficient solutions to respond to a broad spectrum of industrialisation needs. Sook Yee joined IMC in 2007. Prior to her current appointment, Sook Yee held the positions of Head of Chairman’s Office and Head of Group Strategies & Investments in the IMC Pan Asia Alliance (IMCPAA) Group. In this capacity, she was responsible for the alignment of strategies and investments, as well as governance, finance, treasury and reporting. Sook Yee was also responsible for the IMC Investment strategic business group, which incorporates IMC’s liquid and direct investments portfolio. As Head of Chairman’s Office, Sook Yee spearheaded the key organizational strategy of translating the Chairman’s vision for IMC and the mission of building IMC as a sustainable business, which provides for human well-being and creating wealth at the same time. Before joining IMC, Sook Yee spent more than 15 years in the heavy building materials industry holding various senior management positions, the last being the Country Director of CEMEX Malaysia, one of the country’s Big Four heavy building materials producers. She was responsible for leading the development, growth and operations of its ready mix, aggregates, asphalt and admixture businesses. In addition, Sook Yee also possesses more than 10 years of experience in the areas of governance and investments. Sook Yee is a Certified Public Accountant from the Malaysia Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the Malaysia Institute of Accountants. She spent more than eight years with KPMG, including two years with KPMG in New York. She was also employed in an investment bank where she was engaged in various corporate functions.
