Tomoya is one of the most experienced investment professionals in Japan with nearly 30 years experience in private equity. In 1980’s he started his career in venture capital and development capital in the United States and Singapore. In late 1990’s he started buyout investments in Japan and become to be known as one of the pioneers in Japan. After he spent 7 years as CIO of buyout investment at a Japanese private equity firm, he spent 4 years as the head of Japan office of Permira, a global private equity firm with European origin. In 2012, he founded Social Investment Partners with other private equity veterans to pioneer venture philanthropy concept and social investment market in Japan. He serves as national advisory board of G8 Impact Investment Task Force. He is also a founder of Phronesis Partners, an independent private equity firm in Japan. Tomoya has bachelor of law from Hitotsubashi University, Japan.
