Wai Hoong leads General Atlantic’s Southeast Asia investing program. He currently serves on the board of directors of PT MAP Boga Adiperkasa, a leading food & beverage retailer operating five exclusive brands in Indonesia including Starbucks, Pizza Express, Krispy Kreme, Cold Stone Creamery, and Godiva.
Prior to joining General Atlantic, Wai Hoong was a senior investment professional at CVC Capital Partners and also served on the board of directors for several of CVC Capital Partners’ investments in Southeast Asia including Magnum Corporation, a leading lottery operator in Malaysia; Matahari Department Stores, Indonesia’s leading department store brand; Link Net, a leading fixed broadband and cable TV operator in Indonesia; and QSR Brands, the largest fast food operator in Malaysia.
Earlier in his career, Wai Hoong held a variety of investment management and investment banking roles at firms including Headlands Capital Partners, LLC, Blum Capital Partners LP, and Morgan Stanley.
He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan. Wai Hoong currently serves on the board of the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN).
