New to the AVPN Connector?
Here are some commonly asked questions to help you get going
AVPN’s mission is to promote the venture philanthropy approach to more effectively channel capital (financial, human and intellectual) to address social issues.
In working towards this mission, we have created the AVPN Connector to allow members and stakeholders to make meaningful connections more efficiently. We hope to achieve this through a delicate balance of information sharing and maintaining personal data privacy.
1. Who can use the AVPN Connector?
The AVPN Connector is predominately a service for AVPN members. This service also has limited features available to non-members.
2. What can I do with the AVPN Connector?
Excellent question! The AVPN Connector is preloaded with the attendee database from our previous and upcoming events. Within this system, you will find a searchable database on available delegate profiles (who have not opted out), annotated with relevant information where available on where they are currently based, their geographic focus areas in Asia, and the beneficiary groups they cater to. This system is also integrated with LinkedIn so you can see common connections in your professional network. You will need to be logged in to LinkedIn within the same browser window to see this information.
Within this information-rich system, you’ll be able to send messages and connect with delegates. You will find a “Send email to user” button on each delegate’s profile page. To help maintain privacy, we have kept the email addresses of all attendees hidden so you will not see a person’s email address until they respond to your message.
For AVPN members, we’ll be happy to help you with an introduction. In the profile page of the relevant contact, just click on the button that says “Ask AVPN for an introduction” and we’ll take care of the rest!
3. How did my information get into the AVPN Connector?
Your external profile was carefully put together by the AVPN team using publicly available information on the internet.
We believe that making this information available will allow everyone to make the best use of the limited time at the our events, by allowing you to discover and contact relevant individuals ahead of the event itself. We have tried our best to present accurate information and if what is presented is not to your liking, please accept our apologies. You can either make changes to your profile directly (see next bullet point), send us a message with your requested change, or choose to opt out entirely of the AVPN Connector database.
If you are a speaker at an AVPN event, you would have provided us this profile information and we would have verified its accuracy with you.
4. How can I change what shows up in my profile information?
We’re glad you asked! You can edit your profile information by clicking on “Edit User Profile” in the top toolbar.
You can change your profile photo, position, organisation name from there. Don’t forget to also update the “biography” section to share some background on yourself.
5. I don’t want to receive messages from here, what can I do about this?
Your privacy is very important to us. If you do not wish to be contacted through the AVPN Connector, please set your ‘Edit User Profile->Connector Permission’ to ‘From AVPN Staff’.
By opting out, you will also not be able to view the AVPN Connector database.
