Job Description

The Capital Mobilisation team within AVPN is commitment to creating an enabling ecosystem for effective capital flow towards impact organisations  and demonstrate the potential to catalyse philanthropy and impact investment towards the SDGs through designing and delivering philanthropic funds, capacity-building programmes, innovative financing mechanisms, and forging corporate partnerships.

AVPN is seeking a passionate Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist to join our team in a ground-breaking regional initiative aimed at skilling vulnerable communities with technological knowledge and skills through a train-the-trainer approach.In this role, you will provide expert guidance and advice to the project team, utilising advanced AI knowledge to inform strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the project team of the initiative, leveraging advanced knowledge and expertise in artificial intelligence (AI). Offer insights on AI technologies, applications, and best practices to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of the AI landscape, including emerging trends, technologies, and opportunities relevant to the objectives of the initiative. Stay abreast of industry developments and market dynamics to identify potential areas for collaboration.
  • Monitor and identify key trends in AI research, innovation, and implementation across various sectors. Analyse market data and industry reports to assess the potential impact on the Fund's efforts and recommend strategic adjustments as needed.
  • Identify potential opportunities and partnerships that align with the objectives of the initiative. Collaborate with the project team to evaluate and prioritise opportunities based on their potential for impact and alignment with the Fund's mission.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans and initiatives to advance the objectives of the initiative. Provide input on goal setting, target outcomes, and performance metrics to measure the success of AI-related interventions.
  • Work closely with the project team and stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations effectively to ensure alignment and buy-in from all parties involved.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in computer science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or a related field
  • Proven experience (at least 5 years) working in the field of artificial intelligence, with a focus on research, development, or implementation
  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, algorithms, and methodologies, with the ability to apply this knowledge to real-world challenges and opportunities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and extract actionable insights
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively
  • Experience working in a consulting or advisory capacity, providing strategic guidance and support to organisations or projects
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with the social impact sector and a passion for leveraging AI for positive social change is desirable but not required
