The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is seeking applications for an Investment Manager for the Australian Government’s new $40M Emerging Markets Impact Investment Fund (EMIIF). The EMIIF is an exciting initiative that aims to address the financing gap for SMEs that improve the lives of the poor, and play a market-building role for impact investing in the region.

The EMIIF will use loans, equity, guarantees and other financial instruments to invest in funds that target early-stage SMEs. It will also provide technical assistance to funds and SMEs to improve management capacity, financial skills and business operating practices. EMIIF will have social impact at its core, supporting businesses that benefit poor communities through their products, services, supply chains or employment practices.

An Expression of Interest process is now open to engage an Investment Manager for the EMIIF. This is the first step of a two stage tender process. Suitably qualified applicants are encouraged to submit an EOI to ensure consideration for participation in the second stage.

Applications due by 8 January 2018 through AusTender. Visit DFAT’s Business Opportunities Webpage for more information.
