Job Description

AVPN announced the launch of the AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific, supported by Google.org and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in 2024. This fund is a multi-year programme designed to equip Asia’s workforce and MSMEs with essential artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge and tools required for the evolving work landscape. It aims to ensure that jobs and roles presented by AI are accessible to more people in the region, specifically those from underserved communities.

We are seeking a Project Consultant to join our team and support the AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific, with a specific focus on our operations in Japan. In this role, you will gain valuable experience in implementing regional philanthropic projects at the intersection of AI, social impact, and workforce skilling. Reporting to the Director of Special Projects, this position is open to candidates based in Japan or South Korea.

This is a project-specific, performance-driven contract role.

Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Compensation is structured as a lump-sum professional fee disbursed monthly, based on an expected time commitment of 5–10 days per month. This structure ensures flexibility while directly linking compensation to achieved outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a new track of AI training programme component in Japan end-to-end:
  • Partnership Development and Management
  • Curriculum Design and Delivery in collaboration with Partners
  • Participants Recruitment and Retention in collaboration with Partners
  • Implementation Monitoring and Quality Control
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Data Collection and Analysis
  • Impact Story Development and Content Creation
  • Risk Mitigation and Issue Intervention
  • Organising Events if needed
  • Support relationship management and communication with existing partners in Japan
  • Other operational support and ad-hoc tasks in relation to partners in Japan

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 to 10 years of prior experience in project management, grant management, or digital skills training.
  • Fluency in Japanese is a must.
  • Keen attention to detail, ensuring excellence and precision in all projects and tasks.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • A self-starting, adaptable team player who thrives in changing settings and is willing to take ownership beyond a fixed remit, ensuring active coordination and operational resilience across diverse time zones.
  • Highly receptive to feedback with a proactive attitude toward coaching and professional growth.
  • Proven ability to master complex concepts quickly, demonstrating sharp self-awareness and strong analytical reasoning.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to engage stakeholders across different geographies.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Google AI tools, and workflow automation platforms such as Zapier is desirable.
  • Fluency in other Asian languages would be an advantage.
