Job Description

AVPN’s Senior Manager, China will be AVPN’s local point of contact in the market, helping to shape strategy, positioning, and relationship building for the organisation, including servicing current members, recruiting new members, and helping cultivate relationships with existing and prospective China-based funders. The Senior Manager reports to the Regional Head, North Asia.

Responsibilities

Leverage their personal experience of the social investment ecosystem in Asia to:
  • Determine any competitive landscape issues and how AVPN should be positioned.
  • Detail the market needs, AVPN value add, differentiation from any competitors.
  • Identify key opportunities for AVPN.
  • Work within the team to maintain relationships with Chinese members.
  • Recruit new members to the network from China.
  • Increase AVPN brand awareness in the Chinese market by establishing a presence in the media engagement and relevant industry events; Work with AVPN’s Partnerships team to develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders.
  • Active engagement in the local market that will facilitate AVPN access to the key players across the full spectrum of social investment: foundations, family offices, financial services, private equity, corporations, intermediaries, government and universities. 
  • Manage and develop associates in the markets team.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of experience in social investment, philanthropy, or CSR. 
  • 5+ years of experience in network building, business development, relationship management, or a related field.
  • Experience in the social investment sector with well-established relationships in China and Asia would be advantageous.
  • You are a team player, and you have experience working within and managing a lean team.
  • You are a firm believer in the power of networks to mobilise more capital for better development outcomes.
  • You can forge and cultivate relationships with members and be comfortable dealing with funders.
  • You enjoy forging new paths and collaborating well with others to make things happen. You see the big picture and can articulate visions of possibilities to drive our work forward.
  • You have excellent organisational and management skills.
  • You are a concise, compelling writer and an effective verbal communicator. You have good command of spoken & written English.
