Our impact partner NGOs work across all sustainable development goals, but our main market traction is in support for mangroves thanks to their incredible carbon absorption capacity. Handprint enables independent verification of long-term carbon sequestration through a digital MRV marketplace, where service providers offer space-based intelligence for nature.

Solution

Handprint empowers companies to capture value from doing good by embedding micro positive actions into a company's business processes. We have shown this can increase sales in e-commerce & retail (with SaladStop!), increase attention in advertising (with Foodpanda), increase event registration (with Lazada), improve employee engagement (with Idemia SG), and open up new conversations with customers (with Thunes SG).




A suite of technologies has been developed in order to accomplish this. Critical in reforestation and carbon sequestration is trust and credibility. By default, companies resort to very expensive carbon credits, certified by analog bureaucracies. These organizations are now bottlenecks to progress and are losing their legitimacy. Handprint solves this by equipping its reforestation partners with mobile reporting tools to facilitate continuous assurance. We break down the process of impact creation and improve reporting frequency, quality, and auditability.

Through our ecosystem, our clients have funded the planting of 253,645 trees across Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Australia, Kenya, and Nigeria, leading to a conservative projected carbon absorption of 54,863 tons of CO2.

Means of Measurement

We combine state of the art digital MRV with allometric models and field information on survival rates. The technology for this was developed by our sister organization Global Mangrove Trust and Kumi Analytics in a MAS-supported project.

We partner with other service providers like Open Forest and Gentian to provide additional measurement and verification.
