Problem

Growth-oriented sari-sari stores (small neighborhood retail shops) are now facing a more challenging retail environment with the emergence of new retail formats and e-commerce. However they remain to have a very critical role especially in their communities of operation so the key challenge is how to help them remain relevant and innovative in this new context. Communities of these sari-sari stores also have limited (or more expensive) access to impactful goods and services i.e. remittance, microinsurance, credit, and e-commerce.

Solution

1. Training of sari-sari store owners – both in-person and harnessing technology tools i.e. YouTube, Mobile 2. Access to capital/microfinancing 3. Mobile technology enablement and on-boarding 4. Hapinoy BizMo MicroFranchise which has mobile money/remittance, microinsurance, bills payment, e-commerce, and an MSME marketplace
