Within the maritime industry, there are two main problems in the recruitment of talent.
Firstly, recruiters face challenges in selecting the right talent for their firm, due to the nature of the industry's job market. The industry workforce has significant entry requirements, such as high levels of qualified and experienced individuals, leading to an overly competitive job market. Thus, in search for the best talent, recruiters experience difficulties finding suitable individuals among the existing talent pool.
Secondly, it is hard for the talent to find the right opportunities. From a marine job seeker's perspective, it is difficult to search for ocean-related jobs such as fisheries, harbours or/and marine in the existing job search platforms.
Therefore, there is an addressable gap within the marine industry in terms of qualified job seekers searching for jobs and recruiters selecting the right talent. With regards to the market sizing, there are roughly 60 to 100 million people working in the marine and shipping industry across these countries.
At Mapsea, we create a specialised marine recruitment platform, SEASON, as a one-stop shipping and marine recruiting service that is free for all. We provide job opportunities for job seekers, as well as AI analytics for both companies and talents.
Furthermore, we are developing global linkages and services to connect as many job seekers to the right employment as possible.
The platform's initial visits exceeded 1,200 when it was launched and currently, we have a total of over 10,000 visits.
In terms of traction, Mapsea signed a Memorandum of Understanding with maritime schools and companies to facilitate the sharing of both job opportunities and job seekers' information.
