Problem

Formal education alone cannot equip young people with programming and digital making skills which they will need to participate in the digital world. Young people, particularly girls and those in more disadvantaged communities, do not always have access to the support and learning tools they need to become makers, not just consumers, of technology.

Solution

Code Clubs and CoderDojos are free, out-of-school coding clubs where young people aged 9 to 17 create and share their ideas using code. Clubs are run by educators and volunteers who help children to learn programming in schools, libraries and community centres.

We provide online support for educators and over 200 online projects in 35 different languages. From Raspberri Pi Foundation's work, over 260,000 young people attend more than 16,000 clubs each week in over 150 countries across the world, with an average of 40% being girls.
