The Banyan is a 28-year old non-profit working with persons poor and homeless with mental health issues and their families. We currently operate out of three states in India (Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra) and offer Emergency Care and Recovery Services (ECRCs), long-term housing options, facilitating access to public goods (social entitlements and pensions), and skilling and employment opportunities for our key constituency. Care and facilities offered by The Banyan are channeled through a user-centric, evidence based and adaptive mental health system framework. Treatment options at The Banyan are executed by multidisciplinary mental health and social care teams such that an individual’s evolving needs are well supported. Our services are directed towards promotion of capabilities, participation in social life and attaining a sense of agency, as well as achievement of clinical, functional, social and personal recovery.
