Foundational Learning Improvement Programme (FLIP)

Madhi Foundation

Madhi Foundation was established in 2016 as a non-profit organisation committed to bridging the education equity gap in India and draws its inspiration from the Tamil proverb 'vidhiyai madhiyaal vellalaam', which translates to ‘destiny can be conquered with knowledge (madhi)’. Identifying the Foundational Learning Crisis as a key focus area, Madhi is working towards reimagining school systems through its Foundational Learning Improvement Programme (FLIP). Through targeted interventions that leverage technology as an enabler, FLIP supports the government in improving teaching learning materials, teacher training, and tracking across 31,000 schools and 1.8 million students in Tamilnadu. Achieving universal foundational literacy and numeracy is a critical step in India’s educational progress and Madhi hopes to ensure that no student is left behind.
