Problem

In Thailand, coffee shops and Roasted coffee drinkers have been very popular in the past 10 years, Including entering the coffee market of new players Thai giants such as CP, PTT, Singha Beer and Chang Beer which Directly affecting society And the environment Especially in terms of income Of small coffee shop operators Thousands of families do not compete in all aspects. farmers have to accelerate planting the more use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides have increased and might end up to consumer drinks, pollute to the local water supply, and the use of synthetic nitrogen-based fertilizers which stimulate microbes in the soil to convert Nitrogen to Nitrous Oxide which is a major Green House Gas, trapping heat and contributing to Global Warming, and traditional Fully Washed Coffee cherry processing uses a lot of Natural water some years lacks of water for consume& causing Water waste effect to community in Lower land, coffee cherry pulp waste causing odor smell pollute the air

Solution

Dealing with climate change: Our organization has the policy to deal with climate change with 3 strategies which are:
1. Organic Farming by Persuade farmers transforming chemical coffee farming to organically Grown coffee to reduce the use of nitrogen fertilizer and reduce the use of herbicides In order to maintain the ecosystem of small organisms to live together in a natural balance
2. We focus on producing products Coffee that helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by taking coffee cherry pulp waste to process into a new product such as Cascara tea, Shampoo&Compost
3. Reduce the use of energy from natural gas in coffee roasting, focusing on renewable energy in the area By taking coffee cherry pulp wastes, rice straw, and some corn husk to produce as biomass fuel pellets To help reduce the haze problem in the burning of agricultural waste Of farmers in the north of Thailand. But this project is a future project That our organization wants to achieve And need to find a funding source.

Type of Carbon Reduced/Sequestered

Methane, Nitrous Oxide

Amount of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent Avoided/Sequestered

Approximately 5 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) can be avoided through planting climate-friendly coffee trees on 10 hectares of plantation land (ref Haas and Köpke, 1994)

Means of Measurement

10 hectares of organic farming can reduce the emission equivalent of carbon dioxide by 5 tons or every 1 hectare of the increased organic farming area will help reduce CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) to the atmosphere to 1/2 tons
