DO YOU HAVE A DISRUPTIVE SOLUTION IN NUTRITION ASSESSMENT?

Sight and Life Foundation, a nutrition think tank, is inviting ideas from students and young professionals who can design an innovative product, service, technology or application to advance or improve existing tools used for nutrition assessment.

INNOVATIONS IN NUTRITION ASSESSMENT
An elevator pitch is a critical part of the entrepreneurial process. As competition for research and investment funds increases, young scientists will need to effectively articulate their idea and do so in a manner that is persuasive and precise. Sight and Life Foundation is organizing an elevator pitch contest on disruptive ideas to stimulate networks and dialogue, especially among innovators, to improve existing approaches to measure nutrition.

Nutritional deficiencies are major public health concerns in many low- and middle-income countries, but accurate and actionable information on their status is often lacking due to high costs, complexities and logistical challenges associated with assessing nutritional status. Precise, user-friendly, and low-cost analytical tools are needed.

The Elevator Pitch Contest’s goal is to identify and support such projects that have a high potential to be implemented and produce a meaningful impact on the target problem in relatively near term.

Five to seven finalists will win a trip (round trip and accommodation) to Boston to participate in the annual meeting of the American Society for Nutrition’s ‘Nutrition 2018’ and pitch their idea to a panel of experts and potential investors. Winners receive a cash award of up to US $ 2,000.
