On February 11th, National Geographic and Sky Ocean Ventures announced the Ocean Plastic Innovation Challenge. We’re asking problem solvers from around the globe to help tackle the world’s plastic waste crisis, and we need your solutions!
The Challenge consists of three separate tracks:
- Design: To design solutions to improve food and beverage packaging and other top ocean-polluting plastics
- Circular Economy: To develop new business models or technology solutions to reduce or eliminate packaging waste
- Data Visualization: To represent a data set related to the global challenge of plastic waste as an original and compelling data visualization
Anyone (18 years or older) is eligible to submit solutions. Teams will compete for a share of $500,000, and select teams will be eligible for an opportunity for investment up to $1 million from Sky Ocean Ventures. Submissions are due before Midnight EST on June 11, 2019.
