The new rules under the Indian Companies Act that came into effect in April 2014 require companies to spend at least 2% of its average net profit on corporate social responsibility activities. More than a year has passed for companies to comply with the law, what are some of the developments in the CSR space? How different are companies implementing their CSR activities? What are the changes that we are seeing in the non-profit sector?
Dr Milind Antani, the Partner in charge of the Social Sector Practice at the international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates, will provide an introduction to the CSR India Law and the current landscape. He will also be sharing some of the latest trends on how corporates are engaging in CSR activities, touch upon some of the challenges and elaborate on some of the opportunities that corporates can focus on.

Dr. Milind Antani is a Partner in charge of the Social Sector practice at the multi-skilled, research-based international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates with offices in Mumbai- Nariman Point, Silicon Valley, Bangalore, Singapore, New Delhi and Mumbai – BKC and Munich. He is also partner in-charge of Pharma & Healthcare and Nanotechnology practice.
Dr. Antani and his team advice clients on structuring of non–profits
and social businesses in India including setting up new entity, assist in setting up of Indian non-profit entities abroad, on compliance with foreign contribution laws, such as Foreign Contribution Regulation Act and provide strategic tax advice.
He has authored and co-authored many articles, publications related to the social sector and pharma and healthcare industry including a book on CRAMS. He is a regular speaker and panelist at various national and international forums on the subjects of pharma, biotech, IP, clinical trials, healthcare, CSR, FCRA. He is also a visiting faculty at many institutions in Mumbai.
Dr. Antani practiced as an ENT surgeon for 14 years prior to joining Nishith Desai Associates as a lawyer.
