Investors need shared fundamentals for understanding the effects that different enterprises – or portfolios of enterprises – have on people and planet, just as there are shared fundamentals for understanding financial performance. Without this, we are faced with a growing array of labels that make it hard to understand which investment products offer investors the best chance to achieve their intentions and goals.
As part of AVPN’s impact investment series, this seminar will be facilitated by the Impact Management Project (IMP). The IMP is a collaborative effort by over 1,400 organizations that have come together to agree on shared fundamentals for how we talk about, measure and manage impact. This seminar will focus on what investors can learn from the IMP’s shared convention to understand and communicate about impact across the value chain. We will be exploring these shared fundamentals and previewing the practical tools IMP community has co-created for impact management. These tools include the common data categories that investors need to use and report for a full understanding of an enterprise’s impact.
This is an interactive seminar with a combination of presentations, case studies and discussions on specific investment opportunities and challenges. Upon completion of this seminar, participants will have:
- Explored their intentions, constraints, and impact goals
- Developed a keen understanding of the common data categories needed to understand and report an enterprise’s impact
- Reviewed 1- 2 case studies on best practices in impact management
