AVPN Impact Management Workshop Series: Building the Climate Change Mitigation Track for IRIS+ in Asia

Event details
  • September 9th, 2020, 07:00 PM - 08:00 PM
  • Country: Online, Singapore

Global impact investors have generally adopted IRIS+ as their benchmark when measuring, managing, and optimizing their impact. Practitioners, however, face challenges when building credible and comparable impact data across diverse thematic areas and global practices.

The first step to creating a new theme in IRIS+ is to develop the overviews, evidence maps, and metrics sets through the Navigating Impact Project. The Navigating Impact Project is where the GIIN, together with experts, identify best practices, research, and recommended metrics for each investment theme the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) and Ceres have partnered to develop a new Climate Change Mitigation thematic track for IRIS+, structured around five strategic pillars:

  1. Mitigating Climate Change through Clean Mobility
  2. Mitigating Climate Change through Electricity and Heat Production
  3. Mitigating Climate Change through Manufacturing
  4. Mitigating Climate Change through Agriculture
  5. Mitigating Climate Change through Carbon Sequestration

To ensure that this theme is relevant, rigorous, practical, and globally applicable AVPN’s Climate Action Platform has partnered with the GIIN as the Asia Climate Mitigations Knowledge and Outreach Partner to host series of roundtables within its member network for practitioners to co-create metrics for each strategic pillar, while testing the drafts for the South and Southeast Asian context.

Through August – September, participants can expect to:

  • Gather valuable insights and set the standard for global best practice in climate-specific impact management and measurement for Electricity and Heat Production, Agriculture and Carbon Sequestration.
  • Contribute to developing the framework for Climate Change Mitigation through an Asian lens by sharing investment approaches and feedback on drafts and metrics.
  • Engage with a diverse set of impact investors, grant-makers and solution providers to co-create metrics for each strategic pillar, and ensure that themes are relevant and practical set the standard for best practice, which can be translated across borders to build cohesion across the industry to build guiding global best practice.
