Venture Philanthropy is an innovative form of high-engagement grant-making, which can be summarised as ‘grants plus advice’. It applies concepts and techniques from venture capital finance and high technology business management to achieve philanthropic goals.
According to the Private Equity International, even though the concept of venture philanthropy had struggled to take root in China, activities are starting to pick up.
During this session, Andrew Muirhead, Senior Advisor, AVPN, will be highlighting global trends in venture philanthropy, and his experience setting up the first Venture Philanthropy Fund in Scotland, Inspiring Scotland. He will also present the Athenaeum Fund, a new fund being set up by the Global Philanthropy Leaders program at the China Global Philanthropy Institute.
Ding Li, Vice-President, Non-Profit Incubator, will also be sharing her views on venture philanthropy developments in China.
