– DISASTER TECH WEBINAR –
Fostering a Community around Disaster Preparedness
Thursday, 03 October 2019
1 – 2 pm GST+8
Natural disasters are particularly devastating in the Asia Pacific region, as risk exposure and vulnerability is higher due to growing populations and a significant proportion of poor and marginalised communities. Building on the conversations around Moving capital towards proactive disaster solutions and Partnering for Innovation in disaster technology that took place at the AVPN Conference 2019, we are extending the discussion through this webinar.
AVPN, in partnership with the Prudence Foundation, will bring together partners and impact-drivers working in disaster preparedness and risk reduction to share their perspectives on the importance of shifting the needle to focus more on disaster risk reduction efforts.
Key Takeaways
- Understand why disaster preparedness can offer an attractive ‘return on investment’ and how it supports the achievement of the UN Sustainable Goals
- Hear about examples of disaster preparedness programmes which aim to leverage the power of technology and involvement of communities
- Learn from the on-the-ground experience on how best to meet the needs of communities and in helping them be more resilient
