Improving outcomes for women and girls requires more than standalone gender programming. It calls for a holistic approach that addresses the structural conditions shaping women’s lives, including gender-based violence, economic exclusion, migration vulnerability, unequal access to education, and the social norms that sustain these realities.
This Learning Circle explores why improving outcomes for women and girls requires a holistic and collaborative approach. Drawing on Mission 21’s work across Indonesia, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, it will examine how long-term partnerships with local organisations, religious actors, interfaith networks, educators, and authorities help address gender-based violence, migration vulnerability, unequal access to opportunity, and exclusion in more durable ways.
Participants will:
- Understand why improving outcomes for women and girls requires an approach that connects protection, empowerment, livelihoods, education, and social norm change.
- Explore how collaboration has enabled Mission 21 and its partners to work across these interconnected issues in complex local contexts.
- Examine why interfaith and faith-aligned engagement can be critical to changing norms, strengthening legitimacy, and widening community ownership.
