This 2.5-hour (150 minutes) interactive workshop will cover:
- Overview of the role and activity of impact investors in the blended finance ecosystem
- The rationale and considerations for impact investors to participate in blended finance transactions
- Case studies on blended finance transactions with impact investor participation
- Recommendations on how best to actively engage and mobilize impact investors into blended finance transactions
Impact investors represent a small but growing investor group in blended finance transactions, tending to participate on commercial terms, but also distribute grants for preparation-stage funding, provide guarantees and first-loss capital, or support pipeline development and capacity-building of investees. Impact investors have also helped bring blended finance into the mainstream by combining their impressive track record and ability to attract private capital, with blended finance’s ability to accommodate private capital in deals that were previously not investable. As a part of this training participants will get an overview of how this particular stakeholder group approaches blended finance transactions and learn from real life case studies in which impact investors have participated.
