Investments that drive meaningful impact not only generate positive social and environmental outcomes but also create long-term value for businesses, communities, and economies. The urgency of the social and environmental challenges we face makes it imperative that investors allocate capital to impact accurately and efficiently.
Supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) IMPACT Programme, Impact Frontiers has been conducting specialised Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) workshops to share practical and credible approaches for the integration impact into investments and to build capacity for sustainability reporting. AVPN, Asia’s largest network of impact funders, is supporting the initiative by building connections with investors across Asia and advocating for the integration of impact into their investment strategies.
This workshop will provide investors with a deep dive into Impact Performance Reporting Norms, issued in April last year, which serve as a guiding framework for General Partners (GPs) in reporting impact performance to Limited Partners (LPs).
The Impact Performance Reporting Norms establish shared expectations for the reporting of impact results by asset managers in private markets. They are the result of an 18-month public consultation among more than 350 asset managers, asset owners and allocators, consultants, and assurance and verification providers. The goals of the Reporting Norms are:
- To facilitate the flow of information about impacts experienced by stakeholders and the natural environment to inform investor decision-making;
- To make reporting less onerous for asset managers preparing reports, and more useful for asset owners and allocators receiving reports;
- To provide a set of non-proprietary criteria against which independent reviewers may assure or verify reports; and
- To offer a market-tested prototype for future disclosure standards by regulators.
- To provide clarity on the impact thesis, helping investors articulate how their capital contributes to specific social and environmental outcomes through a clear impact pathway and theory of change.
- To support informed investment decision-making, by embedding impact considerations into each stage of the investment process, ensuring alignment with impact objectives.
This highly-interactive workshop aims to advocate and advance the conversation on impact measurement and management by offering stakeholders practical perspectives, actionable tools, and tested frameworks to enhance impact reporting and ensure capital is deployed effectively and meaningfully.
