As start-ups, social entrepreneurs, as well as SPOs continue to develop in Myanmar, a key conversation is missing, and that is climate change and the need to move capital towards climate action. Myanmar is just at the beginning of discussing the importance of climate mitigation and resilience to the greater public. However, this cannot be executed well if both private and public sectors are not equally involved or collaborating.
Early conversation on moving capital towards climate action needs to take place to primarily gauge stakeholders and identify their thought process, insights, and challenges within a Myanmar context. Furthermore, these types of conversations need to be heard by the general public to understand the importance of climate finance.
The primary intention of the workshop and roundtable discussion is to discuss how to unlock capital in a more targeted and effective manner into climate solutions, and create an effective way for AVPN members and potential investors to find new impactful ways to share best practices and thought leadership, whilst codifying and sharing experiences, insights, and solutions.
The key objectives would be as follows:
- Engage members to discuss climate action and share their insights concerning climate change in Myanmar;
- Convey to members, prospects, and the general public in Myanmar the importance of Climate Finance and AVPN’s Climate Action Platform;
- Discuss insights and solutions related to finance models that investors are encouraging/applying and climate smart solutions promoted by businesses and social enterprises.
