About this event

Held on the 3rd Sunday of January each year, the Tata Mumbai Marathon is amongst the top ten marathons in the world. Over 50,000 runners from across the world fill the streets of Mumbai participating in various running categories – Dream Run (6 kms), 10K (10 kms), Half Marathon (21 kms), Full Marathon (42 kms), Senior Citizens’ Run (4 kms) and Champions with Disability (2 kms). The TMM is not only a platform to test an individual’s sporting excellence but also a unique fundraising platform for participating charities. Over the years, it has assumed a stature of eminence, as the largest philanthropic sporting platform in India. Since its inception, the event has raised more than INR 270 crores, benefitting over 589 charities, with the funds being used for causes ranging from arts, culture & sports to education, environment, health, human rights and others. The 2020 edition raised an astounding INR 40.7 crores for 272 charities.

As the philanthropy partner of the TMM, United Way Mumbai (UWM) undertakes the multiple roles of facilitating participants to power their runs by supporting various causes, as well as enabling those who are not running, to participate via fundraising. The platform lets corporate employees benefit from the marathon as an employee engagement activity, while enabling NGOs to raise funds for their projects.

176 Corporates and over 8300 of their employees participated in TMM 2019. They have leveraged the event to further their CSR goals, promote employee engagement and team building and build their brand. Companies are able to support NGOs of their choice, while registering team sizes of 15 / 25 / 40 employees.  Registered employees can participate in any of the available running categories. Some incredible companies have gone a step further by connecting their employees with social causes through Employee Fundraising.
